Seniors Section

WELCOME TO MID SUSSEX SENIORS

The objective of the Seniors Section is to enable Club members over the age of 55 to enjoy competitive but friendly golf with other gentlemen of similar age.

When the Section was formed, a decision was taken to avoid the formation of cliques and this has been maintained.  Regular roll-ups continue to be organised by participants placing a ball in a bag to determine their playing partners.  This policy has undoubtedly been responsible for the success of the Section and for attracting new members.

SENIORS COMMITTEE

Captain, Vice-Captain, Past Captain, Treasurer, Match Secretary, Competition Secretary, plus two additional members.  All except the Past Captain are elected at the AGM by the full Seniors Section membership.

RESERVED TEES FOR ROLL-UPS

There is an allocated tee-time every Monday from 0830 to 1030. An exception to this occurs when a Bank Holiday falls on a Monday, when the tee-time allocation is on Thursday of that week.

For the Thursday roll-ups tees need to be booked in advance by entering your name on the sign-up sheet.

MONDAY ROLL-UP DRAW TIMES

Where there is no match or competition on a dedicated Monday tee day, two draws take place: at 0810 and 0900. When there is an interclub match there is one draw at 9.15 (NB places are limited). The draws are usually in groups of four.

During the winter months a third roll-up draw takes place at 9.15 for members who have signed up to play a limited number of holes on an occasional basis.

HANDICAPPING

All Seniors’ handicaps are managed by the Club Handicap Secretary, working with the Handicap Committee, on behalf of the English Golf Union (EGU). The Seniors Section is represented on the Handicap Committee and provides advice accordingly.

INTERCLUB MATCHES

All Seniors with an active handicap are encouraged to take part in Interclub Matches.  A programme of home and away fourball betterball matches is in the Club diary.  Entry sheets for each match are posted on the notice-board.

QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS

A Stableford and a Medal competition are arranged monthly from April to October inclusive.  Competitions are normally played in groups of three, drawn from high, medium and low handicaps.

SENIORS TEAM OPEN AND SENIORS INVITATION
